Whatever happened, this new management didn't get along very well with Yamaha and jerked them around enough that Yamaha said screw it and pulled the plug on the whole deal. Also, this company shared in the patents with Yamaha.Įverything was going fine for a while until the company in question got bought out by another larger company. I asked him if that was why the Hexrack was so expensive and he told me that it was between that and the fact that his company made a good chunk of profit on the front end. Apparently the finish on all of the Hexrack parts is very expensive to produce. Yamaha did hold them to some pretty tight specs. I guess the company he worked for negotiated a deal where they also did all of the manufacturing as well. They all went outside for a cigarette, talked and returned completely sold on the concept. I guess the room fell silent and all of the sudden everyone from Yamaha wanted to take a smoke break. In a matter of months they gave their first presentation where they showed off the hex shaped bars and the ball clamp. Yamaha basically gave them a blank piece of paper and told them to build something completely new from the ground up. They wanted something that was way more advanced, something that would be competitive in the market. They asked if there was anything Yamaha needed and the folks at Yamaha told them about their current rack at the time and that it wasn't selling well. He told me all about how the company he worked for (who also does the Roland drums racks) happened to be in Japan and stopped by Yamaha Drums. ![]() I told him to get out but he reassured me that he really was the guy. The person that I got told me that he was not able to produce Hexrack parts but that he was the principal designer of the Hexrack. I thought it was a shot in the dark but I called them anyway. It seemed like they may have done it before. When I went to the corresponding web site, I got the impression that maybe they would be able to make molds and fabricate the clamps for the Hexrack. The other day I was looking through google images and saw a picture of some hexrack parts. Though I only want a couple more clamps, I've come very close to buying another entire rack just have extra everything. I check ebay and craigslist as well as all over google. And I will post some pictures of my MCAN when I get to the studio.Just about every day I look around the web for Hexrack parts. I will post some pictures when I get my camera fixed, and probably going to post the Tour Custom first since it is in my basement. Right now, I am rocking on some Yamaha Tom Holder Stands for both of my kits, I find either to get a stand or rack mainly due to the limitations of the Yamaha Y.E.S.S. I am a Yamawhore forever as long as I keep playing drums. I know I am paranoid especially the title is called Yamaha Hex Racks = SUPER SEXY. If they had these racks, I would be SOLD!!! I been wanting these racks for so long, but did not have the funds. Music and Just Drums! do not have these in stock. I really want these Yamaha Hex Racks, but my local Long & Mcquade, Cosmo Music, L.A. I like steel or brass shells since they are colder, but steel shells are a bit cheaper though. Since both sets are maple shells, I cannot stand the warmth of maple shells, just not suitable to my style and not to my volume. I also take my steel snare to my house and set it on my basement on my Yamaha Tour Custom from time to time. I use a Pork Pie Little Squealer steel snare for my main, and the Yamaha MCAN for my sub. I will change it to an Evans EMAD or a Remo PowerSonic coated as well when I get some fund.) And Remo PowerStroke 3 Coated 22" bass drum head on the Yamaha Tour Custom, and got the Remo PowerSonic 22" for the Yamaha MCAN (Never want to buy another of these Remo PowerSonic heads again, these are too muffled and sound a bit dead to me. I use all Remo drum heads mostly Ambassadors and Emperors. Currently I do not own any recording equipments, but planning to get some when I have some spare money. I also got some new Wuhan Chinese 16" cymbals for both in the studio and on my practice/gigging kit. I will take some pictures when I get my cameras fixed. I own a 6 pcs Yamaha MCAN in blue fade sparkles finish in studio and recently purchased a 5 pcs + 1 side FX snare Yamaha Tour Custom in red black sunburst finish kept in my basement. ![]() I own both the sets but with less pieces. ![]() The most sexiest and futuristic drum rack I have seen.
